De-Ree 2022 Bean Seed Selection

New to QGS for 2022 we've selected a small range of proven fruit & vegetable seeds that first timers through to expert gardeners and allotmenteers can successfully grow both indoors and out.

Our Bean selection has some of the most popular and more unusual varieties you may not have seen before, which will add interest to your dinner plate throughout the season.

What’s included in each pack:

• Tendergreen - Dwarf French Bean . Average 21 seeds per pack. Producing heavy crops, mild green and stringless.
• Purple Queen - Dwarf French Bean. Average 28 seeds per pack. Producing heavy crops, of delicious beans. Pods turn green when cooked.
• Best Of All- Runner Bean. Average 11 seeds per pack. Heavy cropping, large pods extended season to late summer.
• White Emergo- Average contents 9 seeds per pack. Heavy cropping, stringless producing Butter Beans.

How to grow

• Purple Queen / Tendergreen & White Emergo;

Indoor Planting, March to April - Sow seeds 3cm depp in trays or pots of moist compost, being careful not to over-water. Store in a warm place at an approximate temperature of 16 degrees c, 60F.

Growing on - When seedlings are strong enough to handle they can be planted out. 18" ( 45cm) apart in your desired location in May. Harden off first.

Outdoor Planting, May to June - Sow seeds 3cm deep direct in growing bed in rows 18" ( 45cm) apart, with a space of 12' ( 30cm) between each seed. Keep the soil moist. Pick young pods regularly to extend the season. French Beans are sree standing and do not require support.

• Best Of All;

The same guidance applies as per the above varieties, with the following exceptions. Plant the seeds deeper at 5cm when direct planting direct outdoors. For best results sow in double rows. Runner beans need support as they are climbing crops with deep roots. A frame will be needed to allow these to establish.
